Look into the eyes of a man named Shariatmadari. He is no ordinary journalist, no innocent editor. Back in the 1980s, when opposition voices were crushed, when prison cells in Tehran became chambers of horror, he was one of the faces of terror—a proud interrogator known for his cruelty, known to strike fear into the hearts of those who dared to speak against the regime. And he’s proud of it. Even today, he brags about those days in interviews, talks about it as if it were a badge of honor, as if blood and broken souls were proof of loyalty. For over three decades, he’s held his place as the mouthpiece of Ali Khamenei, leading one of Iran’s most influential newspapers, shaping the lies that would become the foundation of what I can only call Islamic fascism.

Now, he’s done it again. In his latest editorial, he’s taken the world’s horror at the slaughter of Palestinians and twisted it, using their suffering to push a narrative as venomous as it is vile. His words aren’t those of a man standing for justice—they’re the cries of hatred, raw and festering, the kind of words you’d expect from a Nazi rally. He fills his pages with phrases that make your blood chill, spewing hate under the guise of solidarity.

Listen to him:

1) “With 100 Jewish representatives of non-German origin out of a Jewish population of 150,000 in Germany’s parliament, and given the power of the parliament in running the country, it’s easy to see that the German government is at the mercy of the Zionist regime.”

2) “The fabrication of the ‘Holocaust’ is another of the great lies that many Germans have now come to realize. Björn Höcke (AfD member) openly refers to Berlin’s Holocaust Memorial as a ‘monument of shame’ and claims that structures like the so-called ‘human cremation ovens’ (Dachau) in Munich are the greatest lies in history…”

3) “With undeniable evidence proving the Zionist identity of the German government, is there any doubt that Germany’s embassy in Iran serves as Israel’s consulate and must be closed?”

And yet, he speaks this poison without fear, knowing full well there are ears eager to listen. He’s hijacked the language of justice, twisted it into something monstrous, taken the struggle of the oppressed and fed it to the beast of hate. Do the pro-Palestinian activists in the West know what they’re allying with when they accept voices like his into their ranks? Do they understand that in standing beside these twisted narratives, they turn their backs on the very people they claim to defend?

We’re not talking about justice anymore; no, this is something else entirely. They’ve taken justice’s voice, warped it with venom, and now parade it like some cheap trophy, pretending it’s still pure. This isn’t solidarity with the oppressed. This is desecration. This is dragging a true struggle for dignity through the muck, feeding off the same anti-Semitic lies and conspiracies that fueled some of the darkest chapters of human history.

This is the true face of the regime—manipulating the cries of the people, twisting them to serve a cause built on cruelty, built on lies, built on the exact destruction they claim to resist. And they think we will stand by and let them. But let me say it loud: we will not be fooled by their words. Their struggle is not ours. It is not for freedom, not for dignity, not for life. It is for power, built on hate and falsehoods, on every bit of cruelty they claim to condemn. And we will not be part of it.

I started this space with a simple but urgent goal: to speak freely and honestly about Iran—beyond the headlines, beyond the usual narratives. Inspired by James Baldwin’s The Fire Next Time, this blog is a place for difficult conversations, for challenging power, and for amplifying the struggles of those who are too often silenced.

Independent writing like this doesn’t have corporate backing or institutional support—it exists because of readers like you.
